Isn't it just the cutest!!!! I can't wait to start doing his room. Breanna asked me the other day if she could be the one to fix his room up so this will be a challenge for me to "let go" haha. I will try my best tho!

Nursery Theme
We have a theme! We have chosen to do Ryan's room in a theme called Sports Fan. It is very boy but not "babyish" and something I think he will be able to use for years to come, or at least that is my hope. I've already ordered the bedding and will probably register for the room accessories. Here is a picture that I got off of one of the websites:
17 Weeks . . .
How your baby's growing: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.See what your baby looks like this week. Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
How your life's changing: Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. Wear low-heeled shoes to reduce your risk of taking a tumble; trauma to your abdomen could be dangerous for you and your baby. You'll also want to be sure to buckle up when you're in a car — keep the lap portion of the seat belt under your belly, drawn snugly across your hips, and also use the shoulder harness, which should fit snugly between your breasts. You may also notice your eyes becoming drier. Using over-the-counter lubricating drops may help. If your contact lenses become uncomfortable, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If you still have discomfort, switch to glasses until after you give birth.
------
Ok I don't typically write anything after I post these but this time I just have to. The other night I got up for my usual middle of the night bathroom trip and walked right smack into the door frame! I thought to myself "wow my equilibrium is sure off cause I'm clearly not drunk!" haha My eyes have also been super dry by the end of the day but I've been blaming that on allergies, which probably is not helping either. Boy what fun!!!

GREAT News!!!
I had my appt today with Dr. G and she agreed that because my GD numbers have been so good that I can go from daily testing to only testing 3 days a week! WOOHOO!!!! So now I will test on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Which also means . . . since my shower is on a Sunday I CAN HAVE CAKE! DOUBLE WOOHOO! I know I know its silly but its the little things in life that make us happy right?
Dr G also told me that because of the GD that I will NOT go past my due date and IF by then I have not shown any signs of baby Ryan making his appearance that she will induce me. I will also have weekly 30 min stress tests the last 4 weeks.
All in all it was a good appt! Oh and I still have not gained any weight! WOOHOO! Although haha I had PLENTY to spare before getting prego with baby Ryan (ACK I can't believe I just typed his name TWICE)!!!

The results are in . . .
I am VERY pleased to announce that we are expecting a little . . . .
We are beyond thrilled. My gut had me thinking boy all along and I guess mother's intuition was correct. Of course the tech could not tell me 100% but she said that she saw what she thought was in fact a penis so that is a pretty solid guess to me!
After my ultrasound I kept referring to him as Pokey and Steve had to remind me that we knew what Pokey was now and that I could now start using the name. Which will be . . . Ryan Thomas Bettencourt!!
Here are 2 of the pictures that the tech gave us:

Tomorrow is the BIG Day!
Well tomorrow is the BIG day! We will know if Pokey is a boy or a girl. I am excited, anxious, nervous, everything all rolled into one. Our appt is first thing in the morning, thank goodness. I'm not so sure I would be calm enough to last all day. However, the moms will have to wait. We will be going to dinner for a "late" Mother's Day which is where we will make the announcement. Stay tuned for the BIG announcement . . .
